A new approach to upgrading and maintaining existing windows offers homeowners the opportunity to install the latest in energy-efficient glass into their existing windows.

One of the companies behind this initiative, EnerGlaze, is offering homeowners the opportunity to save as much as 50% of the cost of new windows. EnerGlaze installs a new heat-retaining double-glazed unit into existing windows whether they happen to be uPVC, timber or aluminium. The new unit is up to 70% more efficient than a standard double-glazed unit and has only been available in Ireland since June of last year.  In addition to replacing the glass, Energlaze can also give the existing window a complete overhaul by replacing weather seals, hinges and locks where necessary, as well as advise on security measures such as toughened safety glass or laminated anti-theft glass. This can all be done with existing windows, meaning there is no costly redecorating or moving of alarms, etc.

In the rare case where windows are not in good enough condition to warrant an upgrade they can also install new windows and doors with this new glass. In addition to the energy-efficient double-glazed glass units, consumers can opt to incorporate many different variations such as self-cleaning glass for awkward areas, a solar control glass for conservatories and, if noise is an issue, an acoustic glass to reduce the sound of traffic, etc.

EnerGlaze operates on a nationwide basis and can be contacted on 01 9011635 or email [email protected].
